Focus:

In this Blog, I hope we can deal with the rather far-ranging issues of Cultural and Societal Changes; Apparent Changes in Our Planetary Environment; Ongoing Developments in Personal and National Finances and Economies; and Interactive Commentary Regarding All of the Above; and How We Can Approach A New Economy.I am not any kind of authority on any of these issues, merely an observer of some of them and I believe a dialogue is important to prepare us to meet these challenges and solve/resolve the troubling issues that face us. At the very least, to find ways to face the ongoing challenges and changes and mitigate their effects for the good of all. By sharing Personal Experiences and Opinions pertinent to these topics, perhaps we can identify our common ground and rather than sink into the mire, bridge the gap and help each other emerge on the other side.

Freedom: Is It Just Another Word for Nothin' Left to Lose?

Freedom Ain't Worth Nothin' if It Ain't Free.
Well Folks. Freedom Ain't Free.
Our forebears fought and died to make and keep a free country. From the dregs of European castoffs. From people who no longer could stand the tyranny of monarchies and oligarchies, we populated this continent, forcing into submission those more native to this land. All because, understandably, people yearned for self-government, for freedom to choose for themselves and to make better lives.
Unfortunately, the zeal with which our forebears accomplished this task was not open to blending, but to conquering. That has been the way throughout human history. Move in. Take over.
Today our soldiers, sailors and airborne personnel continue to fight and die. Ostensibly for freedom. Ostensibly to protect America.
I honor, love and respect them for their valiant service and their love of country. Ooo Rah and Semper Fi and I mean that for all branches and with the deepest honor and respect. Thank you.
Why and how, though, have they become the pawns of governments and corporations rather than the protectors of our nation. They have been co-opted to police the world and to ensure that giant corporations can continue to subserve people in third world countries because our unions here protect workers from exploitation, and uphold workers rights.
I have a lot to say about how many unions have gone bad and become greedy and self-serving entitlement programs. But ideally they exist for an important service. Because of their greed and inability to be moderate rather than extremist, the even greedier corporations have outsourced most of our employment opportunities, thus making major elements of our population mere serfs and degrading the middle class to a substandard level of life.
This has been a web of greed since before the first Great Depression (of the Thirties)
That Depression was conceived on Wall Street, gestated in the Dust Bowl, birthed upon an unsuspecting nation and resulted in entitlemenet programs which have only snowballed into creating a population expecting the governement to mommie and daddy them throughout their lives, thus becoming unable to appreciate and stand for the freedom granted us by our Maker and ensured by our Constitution.
But go back again, In seeking freedom, the pilgrims brought with them that self-righteous zeal and a greed all their own, which is why it was such a long and difficult task for our Forefathers to draft our Bill of Rights and our Constitution in the first place.
Everyone always has an agenda and a spin.
"Blessed are the peacemakers for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven... The  meek (moderate) shall inherit the earth."
Blessings of peace and prosperity to each of you.
Victoria
